API Conference: The Hague - Mapping the Multi-protocol Landscape (Presentation)

For many years, the conversation around APIs and services was neatly split by protocol and specification. Even inherently interconnected topics like API governance were focussed at the level of replicating process and style across individual APIs of a single type (REST for example). If we pull the camera back over the API and service landscape, this perspective – API monoculture – is actually less prevalent than we believe. Today – we will intentionally take a wider view – and explore how APIs and services have co-evolved. We will discover where we can leverage the lessons learned from our journey with RESTful services to now map the multi-protocol landscape. Finally, we will understand where the multi-protocol perspective can be leveraged to create more opportunity and value within companies and organizations.
